    "Seaworthiness Report" for insurance

Has anyone had any experience gettting a seaworthiness report to satisfy their insurance company (in this case RACQ)? Apparently it is a standard report that is done by a "Qualified marine dealer" and they have a standard form for doing it. No doubt for a not insignificant cost!

I'm hoping that my fibreglass repairer that is currently doing my floor and stringers can do it for me.

Sticking with Suncorp is an option but everything else is with RACQ so having one policy somewhere else is a pain.

    Cheers

I had the same trouble with Club Marine, ironically, I then went with RACQ (who asked for the exact maximum speed of my vessell????.) Perhaps try another insurer, ( I think club marine ask for this report a few years b4 RACQ, but dont quote me on this) By the way, if you are in the Brisbane vicinity, who is doing your stringers as I am going to install a new fuel tank the beginning of next year, and need a couple of stringers made for the new fuel tank location.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The shipwright doing the resto work for me can provide the report and will give me a written valuation as well. Should keep them happy.

My boat is in commercial survey, I go through IC Frith (an insurance broker) - they get the insurance for me at no extra cost and no seaworthiness report and they get the best insurance available.
