I've managed to make this site load better and work at a level where I don't get the sh!ts with it by doing the following:

    1. Get the latest version of Firefox.
    2. Install the Ad-Block pro plug-in
    3. Add the following URL's to your add-block black-list:

    http://www.google-analytics.com/*
    http://acvs.mediaonenetwork.net/*
    http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads?*
    http://www.ausfish.com.au/ws/icon.jpg
    http://www.moonmodule.com/cs/ccm_fl.js

    http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/*

    http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/forum_files/menucb1.js
    http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/for...menu_loader.js

This will make the site work as it's supposed to until the mods can work out the performance issues.

That works. Though you do not need to filter the Ausfish URL's or the moon one. You need the Ausfish url's to see the normal dorpdowns etc. Thanks for the tip. Looks like the problem is around the google adds.

Don't need it. Just bookmark and go straight to the Forum Page:

Open the Add-block options (There should be a toolbar button) or from the add-ons menu, then add that site: http://acvs.mediaonenetwork.net/* to the filter list or the blacklist (can't remember which it's called).

The Add-block is a handy one to run in general as it blocks a lot of malware sites automatically.

As well you can right click on images and things within a webpage (like ads) and add them to the black list. Just go sick on all the sites you access and block anything you don't want loading up. Makes browsing the sites you visit frequently less stressful.

    cheers

The following is from a forum [Gamming]that I have been useing for a year or two and these guys know whats what.
Its up to you if you use it or not.
    But it works for me.

    Hi
I dont remember where i read about it but there is a program called gamebooster (google it) and it is completely free.

Hey guys, yeah i've had gamebooster as long as i remember and i liked it that much that i bought v2.0, which is pretty much like the first but closes processes much faster, has a top performance tweaking option and tells you if you have out of date drivers and gives you links to the download sources aswell as info on game essentials such as ventrilo, xfire and teamspeak. very handle tool and highly recommended by myself too

Ya i just downloaded it today and the game is just flawless, because I can do a lot more kills a lot easier Also works with any of my other games too so I highly recommend downloading this Just go here for easy download

Why cant the site be set to run just as fast on IE? Seems no one wants to do the hard work and fix for both browsers. Why the hell should I have to download Firefox?????????? Fix the site so it runs just as good on IE.

    Mike
Working in a web-development business, I can say that its not as easy as 'fixing the site' for IE - particularly IE7. Being a new member, I don't want to say anything untoward, but it is really is a complex issue - I wish our company didn't have to spend upwards of $500K making our software faster in IE when it worked fine in nearly any other browser. IE8 should do much better, and when IE9 comes, that will be better still, but Firefox, Safari and other browsers will perform better right now.

I don't know the inner workings of this site and I'm not actually a programmer, but looking at some of the 'nice' features they're using here, they're not going to perform anywhere near as well in IE as other browsers as the rendering engine in IE7/8 is just not as efficient.

Its like having two identical boat hulls, but one has a 15hp and the other a 50hp - if you're just pottering about, does the difference in power really matter? But in some circumstances, like running up a creek on an outgoing king tide, 50hp is going to perform much better.

That is a really simplistic analogy, and I totally understand your frustration, but if you're prepared to give Firefox a go you'll find that its not just this site that performs much better - any of the more complex sites you visit will also perform much better.

    Cheers

this still does not explain why a few weeks ago it was fine and now it is like this, It is not as simple for some of us just to download other programs, Work computers and it departments stop that real quick. There has to be something different between those times, someone just needs to find out what!!

As a new member, I can't comment on previous performance but if it has degraded, for multiple users, yes I agree with your point - it could be anything from a new feature, Change of ISP host, new clients on the ISP and subsequent 'overcrowding' etc

As for not being allowed FF on work computer, yep that's typical in our industry - that's why we had to bite the bullet and spend the $$ on redeveloping for better performance in IE - the clients didn't have the option to install FF as their IT dept would not allow it.

You are dead right there Lee. I have tried computers at work my home PC and at the moment I am on a computer in the Qantas club at the Brisbane airport all have the same issue the page seems to load alright (most of the time)but the drop down menu takes forever. Something changed a couple of weeks back?
