    fish id please

    Hi people.
well i was down at the jindalee boatramp the other day catching prawns in the rain to feed my barra. i caught this little cod like fish, no idea what it is. It looks kinda like a estury cod, but more spiky around the head, and im pretty certain it make a croaking nose as it swims. It also seems to be ok in freshwater, since i caught it in/after heavy rain, there was plenty of fresh in the water and that stretch of the river is already quite brackish. its been 8 days and the fish seems fine in my freshwater tank. This is the best pic i could get as it just wont sit still in the open. Help Please!!

it does resemble a stone fish, bit hard to tell though. if it is then you dont want to get spiked by them, ive heard the can be extremely painfull.

dont know if its a good idea to keep it in fresh water since you got it from tidal waters. if you plan on keeping it you may want to set the tank up to suit the fishes natural habitat, not treat it like a science project.

Hard to tell from the photo but Id have my money on a bullrout too- could be a cod species but as i say hard to tell from that photo. I can garantee it isn't a stone fish but.

Best place to keep a bullrout is in the middle of the driveway.

Make sure you have nothing else in the tank with it.
