two sounders on a boat

Ok.

I recently brought another sounder for a toy boat i had but it has since been sold. I was wondering if there is any benifit in installing another sounder. I have a furuno 620 as the main and the other one is a humminbird grey scale one.

I also chase prawns in the summer. P.s I have never seen a school of prawns on the sounder.

Not sure about your boat but I've asked santa for a new sounder so than my old one will live up front on the casting deck with the transducer on the electric motor.

mate they should not cause a problem with each other we just fitted a garmin 750s next to our furuno 620 in the smaller boat and tried them out tuesday and they work great.

Mike, you need a furuno to catch fish, All the other sounders are just toys for catching bait fish.

If your doing Deep water work, it is handy to have one sounder showing the bottom to say 10m up and the second sounder showing the whole water column.

That way you can actively be zoomed in on the bottom, showing readings in higher detail and feature, and the second sounder showing all water column where maybe bait is a bit higher or a school of Spanish for example.

I don't have this set up at the moment. But when I get rid of this boat to upgrade, unless I have a big 10 inch I will definitely run with 2.

Not to mention how annoying it would be, to be on some great action and for your only sounder to play up.

I have heard that the sonar pulses from 2 transducers operating side by side will interfere with each other. Is there any truth in this?

Bill Corten runs 2 sounders for reference and he has no problems. Tim, you dont need 2 x sounders you always seem to smash them???????

I run 2 side by side with no problems. Both combo units and generally run one as a plotter and one a sounder but have run both plotters and both as sounders before for different features.

You can do what you have described with the furuno alone, split screen with bottom lock or bottom zoom.
