Finally organised a weekend fishout at my favourite fishing haunt, Borumba. The beauty about having the two days fishing, we don't have to fly to all of our favourite spots, instead we took out time and tried all over the dam.
We tried all types of fishing but mostly used fly and modified spinnerbaits (Bassman TW)
Overall tally was:
45 Bass, from 32-46cm with most being in the high 30's
12 Togas, from 68-82.5cm
1 Yella, at 42cm
2 Red claw (my first ever!)
We lost many many more but had a great time.
Highlight was the tracking of the biggest Toga for about 10 minutes through thick scrub, had one shot at it through a gap and was lucky enough to get that one good cast in and a good solid hook up.
Lowlight, we had a chat with the local fisheries patrol who was on a jet ski. We were right up through a narrow inlet. He was asking all the boaties as a favour to keep the wake down when entering the ramp as to minimise waves etc which we aknowledged and was happy that he was doing the right thing. However when we finished talking, he took off like a bat out of hell with waves crashing all over the place and any fish in the area would of swam for cover. He asked us to do the right thing, which was fine but didn't really return the favour.
Overall had a great weekend and can't wait to do it all over again.
