Hervey Bay Session 18/11/10
Went up to Hervey Bay to visit the family for a few days, wasn't planning on going for a fish but the weather looked like it would be ok so decided to spend the day on the water with the parents.
Head up around Wathumba to some usual haunts and collected plenty of livies, often having the jig shredded by macs on the way up.
Deployed livies out the back on a two hook rig with some wire, usually the wire will scare them off but managed 7 good spotties to 90cm in not much time at all, should make for some good red emperor baits .
Also managed some nice scarlets and moses on the bottom, kept a few for a feed and released more than we kept. Dad scored an 11kg Golden Trevally which was released to fight another day and got smoked by what we thought was a big GT on another spot, got colour before it ran back to its wreck home 20 metres below I battled a couple of small brozne whalers also to 5ft long.
Mackeral were all taken on live slimeys and reefies on strip baits.
Sorry didn't take any pics.

Hi Anthony, are you sure they were spotties and not big schoolies?
We are heading up there in a few weeks time for our annual long weekend at the creek.
Cheers.

I was up around Wathumba on Friday 19th. Weather was great. My first time up there. Found some spotties, schoolies and a spaniard and some tuna. You did well to score the scarlets. Shows were very poor on the marks I had and very little bait around.
