The first part of the season is over so its time to begin a new thread on this mexicans snapper fishing. In between our enchiladas and tacos with the occasional tequila and seniorita a few mexicans like to catch a fish or two.
TOL has been giving me a hard time in the bilge about this mexican getting up late and missing the best part of the day. He likes to get up at the ungodly hour of 4.20 to do his thing whatever it is but its probably nothing that I can't do at a more sensible hour.
So this morning I got up at 3.50 which in real time (yours) is actually 2.50. I'm sure TOL was well tucked up at that time and dreaming of catching a snapper or something.
Well before Finga would've had a chance to plow his bottom paddock and TOL had much chance to sip his morning brew this mexican was on his way in from catching the snappers in the photo. All done and dusted by 5.00 real time with a few fish having to go back as we'd reached the bag limit or were in the process of upgrading. All fish going back were lip hooked with 6.0 circles so no chance of them going belly up.
We had a good session, the best so far. I'm finding that a mixture of both pilchard and squid on the same hook is proving very effective. The standout bait this morning though was cuttlefish gut from the only cuttlefish I've ever caught, back in winter, it was. The two big ones took the cuttlefish, the same bait as it turned out as it wasn't mangled by the first one.
Now its time for me to have a siesta and catch up with some lost sleep.
