Re: travelly, Maroochy/mooloolaba river
I just found myself fishing for them in the maroochy river when its messy out the front. found the best bait to be the live herring on a running sinker with two fathoms ( arm stretch's of line) for my trace .
If the fish arnt coming in or out of the river they might be holding in an isolated deep area or in the edy of water behind structure. drifting from the bridge inland on top of the tide proves best results make sure you fish the southern side of the river the difference being mud and struture the average catch are 50-60cm bigeye i tend to catch them either side of the high not the best eating but a great photo fish
, little hint start drifting before the bridge so your gears in the water before your under it, keep an eye on your drift and drift through the bridge for GT, and Cod. with stinger hook set up makes to make short work of the big bream and jack that just want half.
, mix it up with and without running sinker or change your bait to a whole beach worm without a stinger hook drift the same way for jew and golden tevelly, just make sure you head to the beach to get your own worms outherwise you wont make it though the pickers
youll get results the more you put into it the more youll get out
goodluck

Re: travelly, Maroochy/mooloolaba river
For the trevs i find in maloolaba river 2-4kg rod 4 or 6lb line and i like a 8lb leader. I have caught 3-4 different species of trevs in that river 30 - 47cm range. But there is a lot of nice sized goldens in there a mate pulled a 62cm drifting pillies.
My advice is just drift around throwing at all the jettis and moored boats in mooloola river, i find wrigglers work the best so far. If your wanting to use bait i find pillies or fresh mullet fillet works but live herring if you can get some is the best.
There is a few eddies that normaly form that i find that hold trevs/tailor of good size works perfect if the winds in your favor
