pretty sure the reds are eating the bait but even more confident the fly's add that bit of extra zing. The proof is in the pudding where they had a bloke on board that didn't use fly's and pretty sure he caught zip (reds) They also caught 21 legal reds for the trip with 17 caught on fly's. Between just bait and bait/fly I know what I would put my money on

yep, fish certainly do eat the bait, which is great.
The fly just seems to consistently bring the fish to eat the bait. It has been proven to me multiple times, me fishing with the same bait, same hooks, same everything except no fly, compared to another bloke who used the flys as well as that same bait. I caught less fish... simple as that...
