    green sandies

put some pots at green yesterday with my youngfella hoping to get a feed today...had the intension of checkin the pots and going for a fish at the sandhills for a few tings and a few squid...woke up this morning with a good 15knot breeze in the bay so we headed to green with my little deckie to pull the pots and we got 16 keepers sandies so was well worth settin the pots yesterday...spoke to a pro crabber there and he had most of his pots raided with the doors left open...he also lost 5 pots so the thieves are out in force...i had 3 out of my 8 pots done so i guess i was lucky to get any crabs

Tasty looking feed there rosco, shame about the dirty rotten thieves. I was fishing in the river last night and saw a camo coloured boat at full noise heading to the ramp at about 2am and was joking to my mate how it was probably a sharefarmer. Not so funny now that i know some pots got hit. Ben

    ben,
to be honest i expect atleast half my pots to be checked for me when i leave them overnite now....it's getting out of control....but am happy with 16 as is more than enough for a good feed...just means i cannot give as many to family and friends

Rosco I saw you out there yesterday checking your pots.

I left manly at 06:00 with my father and one off my uncles onboard dropped 8 pots in at Green and headed for the Rouse it sure was lumpy.

Spent several hours running all around the Rouse for only 9 tings no squid.

Back to Green to check my pots and only one jenny to be seen (strange we thought) and we couldnt find two of the uncles pots (strange we thought) so we headed over to the Darcy Light to try for a few more tings. Only picked up four more in an hour back to the pots still nothing so we left them overnight.

When dad and I went out this morning there was a dozen keepers in them as well as a dozen throw backs so at least we got a nice feed. Still couldnt find the lost pots (geeze id love too catch up with one of these bastards) ill be trying again later in the week.

    Rosco,

same thing happened to me mate, bloody theives drive me mad, it is beyond a joke. It's worse when they leave the doors open as i can't even humour myself by thinking i placed them poorly. good feed all the same mate, well done.

I know up the northern end of the bay there is a pro crabber that is doing that, we have seen him from a distance doing ours over and have seen him cut the rope and float, toss the pot back in and the rope and float overboard, unfortunately we werent close enuf for a photo, we will be getting back out there shortly with a high power video cam to catch him doing it.
I have lost about 10 pots and god knows how many crabs, its to the point where i dont go more than 200m from my pots cause of this idiot.

What a plick act Lee, I'm surprised he can get away with it being such common knowledge.

get the locals together to get some evidence.

    Re: green sandies

    Bill,

yep we are just waiting for it to settle down a bit since our last confrontation with him, we are then going to sit far enuf away in a different boat that we can get video footage of him doing it, we do need to be able to identify our pots from that distance so will keep that one to myself how we are going to do it. We know his name, where he lives, what boat he has. Almost enuf to get him done for it. very soon we will, guaranteed.
