A worthy result for someone who has put in the effort. I doubt people would fluke fish that like these days.

What sort of rods and reels were you using?

Do you think mackerel off-cuts (e.g. diced up skin, red flesh and pin bones) would work as burley?

Thanks for the report, and the advice about leader!!

Using a stradic 8000 with 15lb braid, 20lb leader on a 7ft shimano raider 8-10kg snapper rod to get busted off a couple of times.

Baitrunner 4500 with 30lb braid, 30lb leader and 60lb trace on a 6 ft 8-10kg live fibre boat rod to get a couple of fish icluding my best.

Jon was using a TLD25 with 50lb braid.

I'm sure anything would work as burley. Once my brother was fishing at mud island for snaps eating a bucket of chicken and throwing the bones over the side. He got a 5kg Snapper and whilst filleting found a wing bone in its gut!

ahh, a baitrunner on a live fibre. I used to have one of those combos, and mark my words, I will have one again (with a few minor changes)!

    Hey B-Mack

Was wondering, were the mutton birds still eating your burley in the dark?? They do seem to have good eyesight underwater, just wondering if they can see at night also...

By the way, my last 2 trips out have turned into whale watching tours! Mothers and calfs, outside and inside Moreton Bay.
