    Re: tide guide

Just as a matter of interest (for anyone interested ) My grandfather pioneered those tide guides. His name was Bill Devonshire but was better known as Cyclone Bill as he had a particular interest in predicting cyclones etc..

When he died in the mid 70's the books continued under the direction of his 2 understudies and my mum continued to receive some royalties for a number of years.. Unfortunately the royalties no longer turn up so I guess that side of things has timed out or whatever.

My grandad was a cluey bugger when it came to the weather.. having worked a number of light houses around the place and being a fisherman for his entire life he had thousands of slides of sunsets and cloud formations that he compiled.. I guess they meant something to him but I am still scratching my head trying to pick a good day to go fishing. lol

I wish your grandfather was still around FB - I used to enjoy getting the tide guide each year and reading his predictions.

THe old format is back. The publishers, 'The Great Outdoors Publications', advise that the 2011 Tide Guide will include imperial measurements. Feet and inches, how wonderful - stuff the French and their metric system.
