p.s none of the charter boats landed a fish on the 50's while i was there either
I was out there yesterday, not out as far as you but should have, great day on the water but we only got 5 grinners and 5-6 black ducks,, quite a few dead ducks out from narrowneck, a pack of about 8-10 just floating dead?
had one great run but no match for 30 lb leader,
the saying goes getting fish is a bonus , I still say B.S I would 'ave loved some reel fresh fish . . . . . like you got , great that the family gets out there with you ! !, seems I need to go more miles out now or was it the full moon?,
Did you get some crabs on your way back too ? Thanks for your report , n Cheers
yeah marty wasn't to bad...the new ground really saved the day for us otherwise it would of been a shocker...didn't even get a touch on the livies...hows the new boat treating u mate....might have to go for a run with ya 1 day
dreemon
we had 2 ducks follow us from the 50's right back into my trag spot...had to watch when u droped as they would dive for the bait...bloody things.. took my pots out yesterday..was getting around the 20 a day...yesterday only got 14

Good day out Rosco and a nice report. Low winds would have been ideal to go so far out and it looks good for the rest of the week.
The 50F reefs on Wednesday were showing good fish (AJ's & KF) above the bottom but as you read from Matts report, they got wise very quickly and disappeared. With two other boats out there today they probably had already put them off the feed.
I found when that happened this week, a floatlined livie with a 2oz ball onto a double hooked rig worked well and caught two more while others were getting nothing. I guess the rig worked as the livie actually swam down slowly through the layers and got hit on the drop about 20m or so off the bottom. The 16oz weight bottom droppers probably scared them away and up to me! LOL
Take care

rosco, had the same problem on Saturday night nothing would take the livies, got all my hits on dead bait, good to see you did OK though, it was a great weekend to be out on the water the fishing just toped it off.
eric,

Late replying and was no need to put up a post - fishing was average for us too. Went out of south passage bar looking for what John Palermo described in fishing vid as Amberjack Reef about 15K out. Found it OK, at least I think I did, but no schools of AJ's that were obvious to me. Dropped a couple of jigs and plastics for zip. Boats around, but nobody seemed to be catching anything. So we headed back to middle rock for one nice tuskie. Got jack of the number of boats anchoring where I wanted to be. Took off to Cathedrals where we should have been all day.
Total score:
Natalie - 1 tuskie, 1 snapper 54.5cm ( a PB for her but only 2nd trip offshore with me), a nice pearlie and another snapper around 40cm
Me - a nice pan sized snap, another pearlie which was identical twin to Natalies fish
Poodroo - one nice pan sized snap and a zinger - that's the name we give to a hookup, then zzzzziiiinnnggg ping, busted off ( thinks he has a hoodoo on my boat)
Tail between our legs, we got outfished by Natalie who has never fished this part of the world before. Not a good day for us at all Told her that's the last time she gets an invitation
still a nice little feed there scalem...mate u should take her more often...least she puts fish in the box for ya...my missus had a shocker sunday think she only got 3 fish for the day but i spose they where keepers
cheers rosco
