Wahoo Double Header at Sevens Saturday

Headed out to the Sevens Saturday. Bar was flat, sea was glassy, slight swell, no wind and no current. No sign of birds or bait so we dropped jigs and plastics on the pinnacles at the Sevens. Nothing happening there so we went for a troll off to the East. Tried Metal head aerated skirts with no luck so we switched to hard bodies. Not long later we caught a 5 kg Mac Tuna which brightened up the day. This was released as they taste worse than tinned tuna.
Five minutes later both rods go off. At first we thought it was one fish wrapped up in both lines but then they took off in different directions. After a good fight doing laps around the boat we finally boated two identical 120 cm 11 kg Wahoo. Both were caught on Gold hard bodied lures one with a bib and one without. We were trolling at about 6 knots with the lures running at about 2 metres deep.
Perfect end to a perfect day!

    Nice double-take.

I would have kept the tuna for reef fish bait - thin fillets salted.

I should have mentioned part of the perfect day was that it was a father son effort. Mind you he is nearly 30 now!
