Adam & I left Raby Bay ramp at 6 am and were soon across the southern channel (what channel I could see) of a flat SPB. On to the rocks at the northern end of nth Straddie to find live bait.
We caught just about every type of undersize fish there is but no live bait. Time for plan B, hang some deep diving lures out the back and troll around the rocks on the tip of Straddie and see what comes up, nothing.
Plan C, out to the wave buoy, here we found plenty of dolphin fish but they were not overly interested. We managed a couple hook ups on plastics, landed one and lost the other to a being bitten off on 40 lb trace.
Plan D check off a few marks in approx 52 meters, here we found plenty of under size snapper. Getting the drift right was the problem, there was not much current but enough wind to upset things, out with the parachute and the problem was solved. In the end I managed to pull a couple of snapper, one was just size (36 cm) and it would have gone back if it had not had its guts hanging out from being fouled hooked.
Plan E go home, so we did and were back at the ramp at 3 pm.![]()
