WHILE the recent rainy weather played havoc with school sports days and family barbecues, fish lovers will be reaping the benefits of the soggy spring in the months to come.

"Certainly the estuarine fish like bream and flathead will be in abundance because of all the food flushed out from the rivers," Queensland Seafood Marketers Association secretary Martin Perkins said.
Mr Perkins said prawn lovers were also in for a bonanza, peaking at Christmas, as the tasty crustaceans will grow to a good size because of nutrients washed out of rivers and creeks.

    Interesting.

First point. every fisho worth his salt knows that " flood and land = flood in sea ".

Second. This is NOT unusual, it IS cyclic and now with La Nina having a grip on us, the fishery will produce good returns in the months and years to come following a good wet season.

Third. Nothing untoward, but why didn't this report state that the Flame Snapper was caught by a pro fisho. To the uninitiated it reads like Joe Blow caught the fish and sold it to the guys holding it ?

4th.......... Why am I working next week when the weather is looking great for an offshore sojourn ?

5th.... even with all this great flushing and nourishing, will the Prawn prices fall below what they were at Xmas time last year, or will the commercial industry continue to rip us ?

6th..... still puts you in the top 10 !!
