    Quick trip to the Gneerings

Was keen to get out on the water when a mate rang to see if i was up for a quick trip to the gneerings after work sunday arvo. Finished work at 4.00 and in his boat at 4.02pm. After short trip out to the gneerings we were anchored and into fish pretty well straight away and they continued bitting well for a couple of hours. Some nice fish on light gear and a few losses. Left for home at 7.00 with 11 nice fish on ice and happy to have been on the water again. Didn't have a camera with me so only a shot of the 4 i kept. The pearly was 41cm but i didn't measure the others and Anthony had a couple of better snapper so the quality was pretty good for the shallows. Thanks for the trip Anthony and hopefully now that the nursery is getting back to normal i'll get time to drag my boat out and do a bit more fishing.

It's only about 3 mile out of Mooloolaba so just pic your weather and you'll be fine.

    Re: Quick to the Gneerings

    Well done Gaven,

You did heaps better than the two dumb bastards on my boat that went to Hards on Saturday in 30knots and spent five and a half hours getting back.

If they had an ounce of sense they would have stopped at Gneerings - it was empty of boats and sounder showed fish - dumbits! $20 worth of fuel instead of $200

Strangely their car was the only one at the boat ramp - twits - two fish to two twits

If I wasn't drinking a spirit right now I would NEVER admit to this.

Regardless - damn those Nobles are safe

Jason - I think there are a few reefs close in to Maloolaba that are under rated and in fact not even mentioned - but the sounder shows some great territory near Maloolaba - you don't have to go 3/4 of the way to the shelf unless you have a boat that can and can't help yourself - let loose with a full tank fuel.
    Cheers

Geez gav its a wonder i didn't bump into you up there we where on the water a touch earlier than you at around 230 in the arvo and left at 7.00 at night also we where at the kawana ramp we ended up with 12 fish 1 pearlie, maori cod released, 3 parrot and the rest grassy's oh and 1 flathead lol. Like you say good to be on the water on a sunday arvo with a beer in hand and a few fish coming over the side.

    Re: Quick to the Gneerings

    Hey pete,
we left from Mooloolaba side so probably wouldn't have seen you at the ramp and tend to stay well clear of boats while fishing if we can. We'll catch up on the water sometime and should get out more in the coming months.
