collectors items, haven't been made for donkeys years
I have a TLD 5 , great little reel , i had it for about 25 years.
I have the TLD 5 and 10 and yep, great reel.
I really like the 10.
Just make sure the ones on ebay are indeed Shimano.
And those reels should be made in Japan and not Taiwan because they haven't been around for yonks.
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good
thanks bud for that
Starting bid of $100 each.
First class reels that have been out of production since about 1990 and are now almost collectors items that get good prices. The TLD 15 bearings and handles fit the 5 and 10, so no problems keeping them going.
Cheers, Rog
Make your own with a topless frame from Alan Tani and a Charter Special 1000 or 2000.
Tld 5 excellent for 4kg and Tld 10 excellent for 6kg. Not made any more but wish they were.
Jeff.
Quality is still delivering long after you have forgotten the price.
One thing I liked on all the old TLD lever drag reels is the anti reverse ratchet worked off the drive shaft, unlike the newer generation of lever drags that work off the spool shaft.
They were also spring loaded which delivered better reliability.
I have never heard of an anti reverse issue on any of the TLD lever or star drag reels.
I've got 2 x TSS-3 spinning reels and they're great stuff for sure!
One of my reels is in the box and never, ever been used.I bought it from someone that was selling gear on ebay in USA..part of a collection from a deceased estate.I paid about AU$250 for it after outbidding another Aussie..sorry about that if you're reading this.
The USA reel has a screw in handle rather than a screw on the side...BEAUTIFUL reel.I was considering selling it a while back but decided to keep it..maybe if I were offered a LOT of $ for it??
For anyone who's interested, the TLD 5 sold for $220.27 (+$15 postage) and the TLD 10 sold for $192.50 (+$15 postage) on ebay.
