    No Arse Snapper

Anyone reckon they know what might have happened to this snapper's bumhole!

He was part of a good day on the Gold Coast NE 50's yesterday. Grabbed a big brown curly tail on a 2oz head & fought like he didn't want to lose any other body parts. Blew his swim bladder so ended up in the ice box & we cut some funny looking fillets off him.

    Cheers,

Fishing can be defined as "A jerk on one end of the rod, waiting for a jerk on the other".
"Fishing was around along time before you darling"

    Re: No Arse Snapper

Grabbed some slimeys at the Aquarian & made the decision to head to the 50's (a 36km run). By the time we got halfway we were asking what are we doing out here?
Anyway we made it & conditions just continued to improve all morning. It was a late morning bite, just before the moon popped over the horizon. The pearlies & snaps came on, Pat got 2 of the biggest piggys we've seen & we got dusted a couple of times on the plastics. All the slimeys got eaten by pearlies & we managed 1 samson.
We headed back in at 2pm, leaving the 50's in a calm state. By the time we got to the 50 metre line it was horrible again but we had a good feed in the esky.

Thats one tough Snapper to have survived his disfiguring. I've seen all sorts of injuries but this one is right up there for unusual.

    Thanks for the report Doddsy

Yeah I think you're onto it Brett.

We catch quite a few bream in the Broady with the same sort of disfigurement around their first couple of dorsal spines & occaisionally around their pelvic spines. Never as bad as that though!

    Re: No Arse Snapper

Doddsy, the snap would have been hit by a mackerel/tailor/shark as a younger fish. The bream you mention are suffering from 'saddleback syndrome' - nothing to do with nets.

Funny as. I think its a nrw species with less drag lol. He must have ben hit by a huge baracuda by the look of the bite size. Still looks healthy for a red with no bum.
