    Jack pb

Went for a quick throw this afternoon at a land based location , looking to tag a few bream for my collection , got this fellow 2nd cast on 12lb line - He was released wearing a nice yellow tag. Hope he gives someone else a bit of curry in the future.

Thanks Littlemac - He was 62 cm to the fork, and a fair beast of a thing , I had to comfort lift him from the water , he was a bit snappy about that idea, then had to find a local lad to snap a photo on my mobile phone as I was solo - I'll be back there again in search of some of his cousins.

That is a beast alright. Well done.
Do you tag everything or just certain species?
    Cheers and thanks.

Monster Jack alright - top stuff. I've only ever caught the one jack myself. That one of yours is a beauty! Darren

Hello Lost near bribie - no mate , I nearly always bring home a few fresh fish to eat ,but I do tag and release a lot of my fish - if you goggle Infofish and then have a look under sunfish you'll see the nominated tag species for QLD. If I catch a fish which I consider a bit rare in a certain location I'll also stick it with a tag.I'm just steadily working my way though the achievement awards. todate I've knocked over Yellowfin bream.Black and Gold spot cod,Snapper,Grassy sweetlip and Pearl Perch -currently working hard on getting the Dusky FHead, Speckled Javalin,Red Emperor and Jack awards under my belt. It just makes fishing that little bit more interesting when you start getting those tagged fish recaught down the track. I've had a couple of fish recaptured up to six times before a "poacher" keeps them for a meal( not that there's anything wrong with that).Hopefully if that jack gets caught again he gets yet another chance to make someones day , that little better. He certainly put a smile on my day.

great fish mate. they do get very snappy, eh? They have extendable jaws that pop out in search of fingers.

Nice tag and release. Looks like they will go quiet after all this rain. we could be seeing the best part of the season already. Thats 2 whoppers on ausfish within a week.
