    Thumbs down Teewah Beach rip off

    I see now we have to pay for the privilage of driving on the bloody beach.

    The money generated will go to maintance.

    They will arrange for the tide to come in twice a day to wash the beach and remove the tyre tracks.

    How long till we have to pay to fish? Breath? etc.

    Improved facilities? What bloody facilities? Maybe they will put a rubbish bin there;

    Responsible people take there rubbish with them and mongrels won't use it anyway.
    Whatever it is if you have room to take it full you have room to take it home empty!

    And the at $170 per vehicle for an annual permit that's a lot of rubbish!

    As with much of these rip off programs a lot goes into administering something we don't want and the rest to the Govt slush fund.

    I wonder how long before this junket is sold off to a private firm to make money for doing nothing

    A nominal access fee of $30-$50 PA would have given some control over numbers but would have still been OK for the less advantaged users. At $170 a lot of people will make the hard decision that its just too expensive and mis out on the experience. The more affluent sections of society probably won't notice the fee and will thank it for keeping the riff raff away

    one permit to cover all beaches and Islands in SEQ for camping and driving per year would be a smarter way to go .

    Its a shame they cant do this. I like DI, and I like Bribie, and I also do at least one trip to Fraser a year (used to go 3-4 times a year). Would be great if we could just buy one permit to do all.

    I always bring back more rubbish than I take. Biggest problem is that all the louts that leave the rubbish are the ones who turn up late and leave early, so they already escape the rangers and camping permits. Perhaps the only one good thing is that a permit might scare these idiots off.

    It's a money earner plain and simple. With the green thing being 'it' at the moment it's been easier slipped in under guise of 'protecting it for future generations'. Maybe in the short term the permits might slow things down but really, how many people own and are continuing to buy 4wd's/suv's?
    If you like the beach there's not really much else you can do anymore, people will still crowd the place out on holiday occassions and summer weekends. The money earned won't have any tangible result and I suspect most would fall into the dreaded 'administration' side of the area.
    What a crock and the idiots doing burnouts and racing will continue, the rubbish will continue to pile up (despite a much heralded announcement that permit money was used to supply 2 new wheely bins to the area I'm sure).
    Gee the longer I dwell on this the more bitter I get....
