Hey mate, this is just my thinking and what i do, 15 to 20 cast only in slightly different directions and diff speeds. Also it has been the last cast before moving that i get the hit. Will be up at Awoonga again next month.

no more than 45 minutes in tinaroo unless you have a reason to stay there such as you know it is a fish travel route.
(at Mondy) have stayed on a point for close to 2hours for 1 barra that hit my mates lure when the call to leave after 5 more minutes was made. confidence that the spot/point your fishing will at some stage have fish comin through feeding is what will keep us there and for how long!

No love its not new...i've had that reel for ages
One of those hard questions to answer ....... So many influences.
If conditions are right for that location - and you have sounded fish & bait nearby ..... it may be a case of sit and wait (we always do this for sunset & rarely move) - Those fish should look for a feed at some stage.
Sometimes you get that feel and you stay
Other times you dont and you leave.
On a recent trip we fished a bay in strong winds ..... what felt like ideal conditions - after a couple of hours for no bites .. we moved on - apparently not long after we left the wind dropped and the fish moved in and were on the chew - so once again conditions came into play .
So rather than time - it is all about conditions / bait / water movement ...... and fish in the area

Give a man a fish & he will eat for a day !
Teach him how to fish
& he will sit in a boat - & drink beer all day!

At every likely fishing place ask yourself why the fish are not biting currently, that will narrow down the reasons to stay or go. I believe that a lot of the time it comes down to the amount of time since a bait school has passed through and how long before the next one does. If one has just passed through you will be hard pressed to get a hunger bite from a gorged fish.
Local conditions are a good indicator as to where the bait schools are and what directions they are travelling. Schools of bait are wind and dropoff controlled for the most part. In open water away from shorelines they are mostly avoiding predation and that can push the schools in odd directions.

Went to awoonga recently (first time since the fill) and my first stop was at a good looking point which was wind blown, shallow, weedy and had surrounding timber and deeper water. I worked this same point from 3pm till 630pm for a 98cm barra and 3 dropped fish, I was happy with the result and from what I heard not many others landed fish that afternoon.
I reckon persistence and confidence pay off in the end.
Chris.
