There's a 3rd product line on top of the yellow plastic ones and the white fibreglass ones. They're called Travelmate and look like waeco ones.

I have a Waeco CF80, don't use it all that often but when we are away it has been fantastic.
If you do go for a Waeco and you want a slider for it I bought the slider when I bought the fridge (both new), only to find that the fridge wouldn't fit in the camper with the slider under it. The slider is in my garage brand new without purpose so anyone wanting it can have it for half it's new price.
Murrumba Downs or Brisbane Airport.

I have a couple of Engles and a Chescold, I think today that the discount price of a well chosen other brand can be worth the gamble over the engle but without more specifics regarding expected price, usage, size etc I don't think it's possible to make a considered decision in any worthwhile way.
I like my Chescold all round best because it is just so versatile while taking up just one space when packing....these do have hurdles that can be frustrating but not unmanageable.
ive got an evakool FM70, couldnt be happier with it, I bought it mainly for fraser island, because it is easy to keep clean (which is the main thing), rugged, and can freeze the fish pretty well. The insulaiton is very thick too, so thats a good thing. But it would be better if it had a thermostat inside.
have had the ARB for 2 years now no complaints, one thing forget about their insulation bag, now that is a waste of money, it sticks on to the outside except it doesn't? but the fridge itsef has been great

Trailblailzer their customer support is great
i second the trailblazer.... ihave engel with less than 500hrs use and now needs new compressor at a price of 650.... pofs
i have two waeco's, the cf110 and the cf50 and have had a lot of problems with them the cf110 had for five years and been back 7 times the only thing that hasn't been replaced is the shell, and the 50 is 12months old and had the digital display changed and the thermistat also, then my old man has an engel that is 25 year old and never had an issue so i know what i would do
My 80litre engle has recenty blown up. Am a bit pissed off. It was only 21 year old.
Waiting on a quote now, will probably fix it, after all it's part of the family![]()
I'm right 98% of the time - who cares about the other 3%
snapper fridge freezers from scarborough would by far be my favourite.
No it is far from holden Vs ford.
The truth of the matter is that Engel is the only company that makes its own compressors, and that compressor is specificaly designed for mobile refrigeration.
It is the only motor that runs direct off both 12 volts and 240v
All the other "fridge manufacturers", do little more than build a box and install a fridge unit they buy in from danfos Or a chinese coppy of the same.
The Danfos unit is almost identical to the fridge unit in a small domestic fridge.
So if you buy an engel..you buy it for what it is and engel.
If you buy one with a danfos motor...ya might as well buy the one with the best box......strongest hinges and best latch... both waco problems
If you are buying one with a chinese motor.....hell the chineses can do pretty good work these days....."OOOO, My cousin he make just same"
But again its the box that will be the difference and it better be cheap.
My brother is on his 3rd engel......the first craped its self after being run 24/7/365 for about 15 years.
sorry his 4th...the second fridge crapped it sealf early on and was replaced quickly, no worries.
the 3rd and 4th fridge he still has and both are running fine......both have at one time run 24/7/365.......the 3rd fridge is about 15 years old and has been retired to extra capaity and spare duty.....the new one is about 5 years old and has been running since it was taken out of the box.
These fridges doo hard miles on rough roads all over NQ.
His best mate used to own a country croosroads service station, he had a big waco display and could get waco at wholsale........this mate has an engel in his own truck and he paid retail.
From what I understand the ARB fridge has a good box with strong hinges and latch.
Me I've got a Waco...... it came my way realy cheap.
Oh waco make a big deal over their low voltage cut out.....well if that is an issue you should have undervoltage cut out on your whole installation.
The engel will run at very low voatages with no risk of burning out the motor, unlike a conventional fridge motor.
cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.
You've obviouly offended it by treating it too soft.
