Mud Crabs

Is it too early to get a feed of mud crabs? Thinking of throwing a couple of pots in around the northern end of pumistone passage around caloundra. Does the old saying "mudcrabs - months with a "R" in them ring true?? Anyone been catching them yet? Would it be worthwhile or should I just wait???

the quality and quantity of the crabs will be slightly better in a month or so but i'd say its still worth a shot.

you might be suprised what you end up with.

I went up to near jumpinpin and had a big jenny and sandies with eggs, they all went back in, I also left pots near the p/point boat ramp and got 2 decent bucks, not huge but tasty and full, this was over 2 days and went through 80 litres of fuel for 2 muddies,

found out we didn't have to travel far after all ,

I'd go with maxibon93 's advise , it'll get you on the water , Cheers

I'm sure you'll get a couple for a feed. No real big numbers around just yet. Or it could be just me? Good luck anyway.

mate there is plenty around....check my post out from a few weeks ago...biggest went just on 2 kg was getting on average 3 a day out of 4 pots all well over the kg mark

Caught 4 nice bucks on the day after the last full moon, so they are still around the place.

I got 2 decent bucks for the pot last weekend, with loads and loads of undersize bucks.
