nice fish I bought some of the pe tackle hooks (for reds slimmy and hussar).Just been to 1770 did not have any luck with them,but i just saw the video and i will rig the bait the same way.Is the 65m area the best place to hunt for the reds.

George,

You can find them from 30 metres to 80-90 metres, both inside and outside the reef. If you find lots of Hussar or other bait you are most likely not far away from where there are Reds.

I'd be happy if I caught a fish on the flies without half a fish hanging off them. To your credit the flies fish well when presented the right way.

I lost 4 fish to a shark the other day as well as 4 flys. Expensive fishing trip.....
When I stopped using the flys only lost half fish and not the fly as well.

what sort of ground were you fishing red beard and what size baits etc ?

It was steep rock drop offs, not to sure if much reef on the bottom. Was using whole pillie with half mullet fillet. Also using a stinger hook but stopped after a couple of re-rigs cause all fish were hooked on the fly hook. Actually finding the fish was my biggest trouble.

TRy fishing away from the rocky drop off and find some fern country or wire weed / gravel areas. Which are away from the shark populations
