    I'll second that!
Keith is a Suzuki dealer, but he's very knowledgeable on all motors. He is easy to talk to and charges fairly for his work.

thanks for all the help guys,i took the boat to brisbane yamaha at burpengary and after they done a compression test number 4 was low so they took the head of to find a little bit of corrosion thats eaten from the water jacket to the combustion chamber ,so can i get it welded and surfaced ground?they also want to put a new piston and rings in also, they quoted me $7600 for a complete head with new cams or $9800 for a complete short block.the engine also has a little surface rust on the cam shafts, not bad for an engine thats done 130hours,so now i'm very pissed of lol.
does anyone know of a good machine shop.
any help would be good at this stage.

    thanks mick.

the old "i've just changed the oil" trick hey? old mate knew about the corrosion all along didn't he? i mean, you never know when something is just going to let go so you can't really blame someone if you buy a motor and it blows up, but "i've just changed the oil" and then it gets water in it is downright deceitful.

At the cost of that rebuild, which I think is a bit exxy, at the risk of being shot down, why not consider a new one from the States?? The dollar is right for it....

mate if i had that much money i would be buying a new motor lol, instead i will just have to leave it in the back yard till i can afford to get it fixed or buy another one.

nah mate i dont think he knew about the corrosion at all,the oil that come out of it he said looked like old oil,so who knows mate,i have just sent the head away to try and get fixed and the guys at brisbane yamaha are trying to get a new sleeve for number4 cyl and new rings aswell, fingers crossed lol, where just concerned about the amount of rust thats on the camshafts so when they pull the crank out there will be some on that aswell,i hope it wont be bad.

    Re: outboard mechanic on nthside

well another update now,i got the head all fixed now and dropped it back last friday, and they said i should have the block back this week, now they said they cant remove the sleeve in the block,so now they have to rebore the block and fit a new one which will be back on the 29/10,they sent the block away 1 1/2wks ago and now they need another 2wks to do it .

i pick the boat up on the 27/9 and took it to them on the 29/9,soon they will be charging me rent lol.
they said that i might see the boat back in the first week in november .
