    Greg,

Whatever time is best to catch fish is good with me.

Also, how heavy are we likely to be fishing, is it worth bringing my own gear 20lb outfit is about as heavy as I go, or just use theirs?

    Looking forward to it,

    Dave

    I agree with catfish ,
No such thing as too early .
Daybreak or earliest leave from the ramp would be good .

    Re: Scarbie Charter

Dave - Probably best using their gear - less tangles that way.

I will let them know earliest possible start.

    Re: Scarbie Charter

I would think about 5.30am or 5.45am depart Scarborough.

I'll be bringing my rod and O/H reel loaded with 100lb braid, wont be using anything less. Might have to use their sinkers and swivels and hooks maybe.

If there are any reds as red emperor then I'll test out my new hook with a slab of mullet and see what happens.

    Re: Scarbie Charter

Peter ..... I would be very doubtfull about catching a Red Emporer, chances are better for some big pearlies or snaps...there have been a few around of late. Also still some AJ's and Kingies, with the odd XOS Cobe. There are still Sails around, and the occasional small Black has poked its beak into the mix.

I am a bit of a bugger in that whenever we stop for a drop on the reef, I like to put a floater out as well. It means I have to do double duties....but hey....get some nice fish on that floater.

    Cheers

    Geday Greg ,
I've heard of a few good Cobia up to 30kg being caught recently ,if one of us get hooked up on one of them they'll get their arms stretched .
Although I like my reefies , I've never been on a boat that's hooked up on a Marlin or the like , so it would be good to see one hoohed up . I agree that you'd have be be extremely lucky to get a legal Red Emperor
( although you hear of a just legal one getting fought very occasionally ) it's too far south for them .
All we need now is for the Weather Gods to play the game .

    Re: Scarbie Charter

I am surprised to hear that you havent been on a boat that has hooked up a beakie Pete.

If we dont get one this trip. Maybe you and I and one other can book a trip with Smithy during december/january and specifically target them. (targetting billies can be a 'boring as batsh$t' excercise....but when it comes off its spectacular.

A charter with 8 pax targetting billies specifically is not a good option as the odds are way too high. Hence we want to make sure everyone gets some fish, but if there is some surface action we can switch over to it.

It is very much a 'play it by ear' charter combining what we want to do based on the skips knowledge of what has been happening recently.

I too am making my sacrifices to the weather gods.

Now where is that Alter and the Goat???

    Cheers

    Re: Scarbie Charter

Yeah, Red emperor is wishful thinking on my part, however if there is an arm stretcher then I'm sure to bring it up, see my other pics re Seaprobe.

Have we decided on a time to depart?
