Malcolm Douglas: The passing of a Legend

I'm not the only person that felt as though we lost a Great Australian Character and Bushman when the news broke that Malcolm Douglas passed away earlier today.

I hope his legacy continues through many different channels all linking together to keep our future generations exploring the outdoors of our great country instead of computer games from overseas.

I remember cancelling the last few hours of a fishing trip to rush back on a Saturday night to watch a Malcolm Douglas special. His family should be proud of the fact that he inspired generations of Aussies to pack the swags, some fishing rods and a spare tyre to head bush and invariably get bogged while doing so which resulted in him being covered in mud. What a classic Malcolm memory that is and whenever i think of the man i will always have this vision in my head.

To continue his great work all you have to do is something with our current and future generations to get them outdoors exploring our great country.

Our condolences go to his family.

    Regards Lyndon.

Condolences to his family and friends from our house too. Sad day.
Such great docos. Best segment is where his boat got stuck over in WA somewhere when the tide literally rushed out from under him and he missed it.
It leaves a big hole in adventure documentary making in Australia.
Who's left now? I can also remember hearing the news a few years back when Malcolm Florence passed away, kind of a little bit of emptiness.

Very well put Lyndon........... Yep i agree with always enjoying a Malcolm Douglas doco too......... I'll continue to do my part in honouring his memory, buy gettin my kids out bush, up the river or wherever these great aussie roads take us, and i also encourage everyone else to do the same........... remember some of the best memories are the ones you create yourself. i reckon if i get to experience half of the places Malcolm went i'll die a happy man.

Still remeber things like Ampol stickers on his boat. Tying spoons and alfoil to hooks catching trevers and reef sharks.
    Another Aussie legend gone.
