    GBC,

Nah none, prob look at the (auto) twin clutch transmision, but drive them both and see what you think.

Giffo, With my parents we just kept on clipping them back in when it happened, then it started doing it more and more we replaced them. A few ways to stop it happening, put into 4h when taking off/pulling boat out of water then back into 2h on the move, this will reduce the amount on torque put to the rear wheels.

Argle ,I did not buy it new.

lethal098,thanks for that tip,I use a Hayman Reese Weight Distribution hitch on the van,but the boat is only a 4.5 m Poly CC so not that heavy.

    Hey Lee,

Do ya see the problem much on 2001 NM's ?

From what Ive read it does happen, but seems more prevelent on NP's. Maybe more NP drivers two large trailers or something. My boat trailer combo only weighs about 1200 kgs.

Also the last two times I had the coils springs changed. (Done it twice in last 18 months trying to find the right combo) I taken the paj home and noticed the rear diff leaking. (different mechanic both times)
The first time I took it back they said it was a circlip not done up properly, and the second time I knew what it was so took it back and told them what too look for.

Would this be the same circlip that breaks on the campanion shaft ?

I priced the replacement companion shafts at a dealership the other day out of curiosity and they are about $180 each - you need two. The new shafts have bigger circlips so should solve the problem. If you were the original owner, you may get them replaced by Mits, which, I believe have done so in some cases but not all.

    Summertrance,

no dont see them on the NM, it may be that they have just not clipped them back in correctly thats all, they are quite easy to clip back in but sometimes need a little force to do it.

    cheers Lee
