    Alvey Deck Winch

Just pulled my Alvey deck winch apart to find out how I can fix the star drag as it is very "jerky"
Got a heep of washers which make the drag work but not sure what to lubricate with to make the drag nice and smooth ...... any clues ?

Not sure you lubricate them at all Jimmy. Could be wrong.

    ahoy capt,
pull out all the washers and clean them with a solvent to get rid of grease etc, lightly sand the washers with fine wet and dry, refit the washers and try not to get lube on them, the drag will be smooth as , cheers !!!

I've never seen an Alvey with smooth drag....they've all been cranked up, fully locked for the last 10 years! I love 'em!
