someone has been on the happy juice

Wildlife officers are investigating a sighting of a three-metre crocodile near a northern Brisbane beach.
Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) wildlife director Nick Rigby said a fisherman spotted the croc on Thursday in the Schultz Canal heading up Jacksons Creek, near Nudgee Beach.
"The observer was confident that it was a crocodile around three metres long," Mr Rigby said in a statement.
"Staff carried out a survey by boat today, but saw no sign of a crocodile.
"They will be doing a survey this evening using spotlights."
He said 'recent crocodile sighting' signs had been put up in the area as a precaution.
"It would be highly unusual to see an estuarine crocodile south of the Boyne River near Gladstone, but it's not impossible," Mr Rigby said.
"Although a large crocodile was taken in the Logan River about 100 years ago, there has not been a single confirmed sighting of an estuarine crocodile in the wild south of the Boyne River near Gladstone since then.
"Apart from the possible but unlikely presence of a crocodile, there is always the potential for sharks to be in the area and people fishing, boating and swimming should always exercise appropriate caution

Similiar to the incident I was told about my property. Apparently a UFO landed in the back paddock in the seventies and scared the next door neighbours dogs and the guy who saw it died in a car accident in FNQ six months later.

The yacht racing community has made mention of a Bramble Bay croc many times over the last ten years at least. I've never seen one but know a few blokes swear blue they've seen it. They're not blokes I'd say were predisposed to speaking crap.

Even if the croc was there, how are they going to look for it. I have cruised the Tully and Hull rivers for 7 years, both invested with crocs up to 16 feet long.

If I want to show a tourist any croc I have to wait for low tide, hope it is a bit cool, and slowly drift with the tide.

To date have seen 3 or 4 over 16 feet long (4 metres) in 7 years sunning themselves on the banks. Lots of little ones under 3 foot. At night you might see a lot of eyes.

Don't believe all the hype about croc sightings. The only time you will see a really big giant croc is about .5 of a second before it latches it mouth around you. You have about 2 seconds to enjoy the experience before you pass out.

If there is a croc down there it is going to be extremely rare for anyone to see it, find it, or even know it is there. The search is a public campaign to look like they are doing something. In about 10 years time, about 12 foot long, it may decide that a fisherman is a likely meal and that will be the last time anyone will see or hear from them again.

I have seen southern tourists up to their waists casting nets in the Hull river, no one ever gets taken although there are crocs averywhere in that area.

A friend has a young son who enjoys diving down into deep holes and delights in seeing big barra, but by the third day, a big croc is seen in the area looking for him so he gives it a miss.

If you have crocs down there, you wont know about it until people dissapear.

    Just my experience
