New trailer finally finished

Well I’ve finally had some time to get my own trailer finished, to go under the Viper.
I have made this one from a 125 PFC, (channel ) with the cross members being a 100 PFC. I make my trailers this way so that any time your able to see if any parts of the trailers are rusting anywhere. No rusting from the inside out.
All the cross members etc, are bolt on; allowing for any part within the trailers to be replaced if ever needed. All the bolts are galvanized M12 8.8 structural grade bolt with 2 bolts each side on every connection.
There will be stone reflectors added to the sides and also under the front section of the trailer.
When it gets back from the galvanizers and I have it all back together and wired up I will get some more pics and post them.

Couple of questions if I may, how much do you think it will weigh all up?
125mm PFC seems pretty beefy, is it a big/heavy boat?
I was looking at using 75mm PFC for a 5.4m pressed alloy boat trailer, do you think this would be enough or should i go up to 100mm pFC?
How much is the galvanising setting you back?

that will certainly do the job for you. Still happy with mine mate, just gotta get out and use her more, but the Southwind is safe n sound sitting on the trailer you made for me too.

The rails aren't bent they are Cut to the required angles then i weld them together with a full strength butt weld on all welds, then a stiffener plate is welded in as well. I am a Boily by trade and all my welds are fully preped this allows for the best possible penetration, in turn creating the strongest of welds. I have started a trailer business -but only on the side at the moment, but have made a few trailers now for a few different size boats etc.

MAZTEZ: thanks Dad course your gunna say that. The reassemble will start very soon the truck is due to drop of the parts any time now..

not to sure of final weight yet as i have added extra to it on the build that i wanted.. The actual frame ( 2 cranked outsides and 6 cross members ) on my material list came in at 230kg apart from the draw bar these are the heaviest parts on the trailer....then there are all the rocker arms etc, but once its all together i will get a weigh bridge cert done so will let you know the exact weight then....
As for the 75 pfc size for your trailer, in the pic of Tony's trailer this a 75 pfc frame all round. I think it comes down to
1. where are you towing the boat, IE what type roads distances etc.
2. Do you have weight issues, IE are going to go over tow veichles rates or more importantly are you going to go into the next brake specs.
If neither of these are a problem then i would myself go with the heavier just due the reason; it maybe over engineered but you will have no dramas if you do decide later to do more with it.
the difference in weight between the two is 2.4kg/mtr.
....I have put up a pic of what sits on this trailer.

Tony Thanks mate i haven't seen the pics yet of the southwind loaded..Looks the part.... Know the feeling of not be able to get out; between work and the trailers i don't have much time...Joys of trying to get a business going...

Salad Fingers and Cormorant:
Galvanizers price will vary from plant to plant. They normally have a set price for frames and one this size as a complete frame usually cost around the $700-$800 mark....some plants will give you a $/Tonne price again these will vary......

OK. I have it back from Gal and nearly got it all back together. All the lights are on and wired up, just have to wire on the plug.
Still have to hook up the hydrastar brakes (wiring only )bleed the lines and it will be ready to put under the boat..
Got to get weigh cert hopefully Friday, time permitting, then with any luck down to the seaworld ramp early Sunday morning for the fitup.
Haven't decided yet on a jockey wheel and should have the spare wheel carrier back from Gal this week to I hope.
Now i just have to find some time to tig up some stone deflector frames.

Well after a couple hours last Sunday in the pouring rain,howling wind Maztez Gawby and myself got the new Chariot under FULLY SIC.

It went 730kg on the weigh bridge so was happy with that.

Now to get some good weather to get out for a fish..

If anyone keen for a price for a trailer don't hesitate to send me a Pm and see what price i can do one to suit for boat.

Thanks mate. Thought i'd try lights in the trailer shinning up to the hull for couple reasons, one is so i can see whats happening under there, and as you know Gawby runs the highways contently in that prime mover and says one of the hardest things is actually seeing whats being towed behind a vehicle when he's coming at them head on. So seeing as this one was for me i thought i'd try out a few extra lights...
I have 4 smaller LED sets shinning upwards towards the hull and have put two ambers facing foward right on the end

Nice looking trailer, great idea using the PFC for the chassis & cross members and i also like the idea that if something was to fail it could be replaced what was the total weight of the trailer? just 1 observation i had was the boat looks to sit very high on the trailer if you lower the center of gravaty it would tow a hell of a lot better, just my thoughts anyway.
