    Talking another successful mondy trip

    fellow ausfishers,

well what a weekend it was. we had 4 of us head up to mondy on thurs and another 2 join fri. weather forecast was good and hopes were high heading into our thursday session. muster was called off we heard so we had 3 teams fighting for our 6 lure kitty! team producer( bagdout and goodname), team 3d( reelinemin and his mate mark) and team tight(jayvee and his mate mark)

    thursday,
we hit the water about 11am for a quick session to find a likely spot for our afternoon session. having never fished in northerly wind at mondy we found ourselves trying a few different spots with no success. by 5pm we were just sitting in the boat thinking this could be the start of a long weekend. no sign of barra in any of the spots we tried so the mood was down in the boat and we decided to head back to camp on dark and get back to the drawing board for friday. team 3d was much the same.

    friday,
team tight arrived to camp about 5am and we all headed out at first light. the tactics were to fish some of the points at south b. we spent an hour in there before i made the call to head to north b and look for a likely spot in there. team tight also headed into north b a bit further up than we were. we found a nice point and tied off in the hope our spirits would be lifted. half an hour passed and the wind picked up to about 20-25 knots and me and jim (goodname) were discussing how shit the weather was and i said but you never know it could stir things up a bit. not 1 min later i was on! and she was goin off! after about a minute of fighting we had her near the boat and thought she was ready to be netted when she took off again. 3 or 4 jumps and a run for the trees which had me thumbing the spool as much as i could. finally got her in and the man love began. after a few photos she was back in the water and kicked away a healthy 108cm. a pb for me on the second day. i was stoked! we spent some more time there before returning to camp for lunch and to see how the other boys went. they had no success. fri arvo saw us all back at the spot in hope of another big girl. team 3d was tied to our tree when we got there so we tied off nearby and they left around 4.30pm to head to white rock so we got our tree back. jim was next to me not really paying much attention to his rod when he had a bump then a hit and he was on! a few jumps (team tight got some of it on video) and good fight we netted a 103cm. we could have packed up camp that night and went home. we were over the moon. and we also thought the lures would be coming home with us...... until we got back to camp. we walk in and mat (reelinemin) has a smug look on his face and points to the tally board. he got a 99cm at white rock on dark. a good effort as it was his first barra. and he was goin for 4 donuts in a row so he was stoked. we still thought we had the lures as they would need atleast a 114cm to beat us and we had an extra day to fish as we were staying till monday and they were leaving sunday. team tight were still to catch one.

    saturday,
today we had to start from scratch again. the southerlies were blowing which changed any game plan we had. we all tried different spots all day. no success for us or team tight so we headed back to camp. team 3d were already back so we thought they must have given up. only to find the numbers 118 on their scorecard! 118! we couldnt believe it. it was marks first trip and he had a 118 to his name. we saw the photos and there were handshakes allround. and then we realised they were beating us by 4cm. spewin! the 118 also snapped his loomis as they were netting it. but not to worry. he didnt care. he had just got a bigger barra than any of us have ever caught. and on his first trip. well done mate. she was a cracker!

    sunday,
team 3d headed out for a quick morning session before heading home. i had a few beers sat night and got some info off the local guide down at the camp kitchen so we were off to try some new tactics and 4cm of barra to win back those lures. but the hangover set in so i only threw 4 casts before laying down till we went back for lunch. sunday arvo we headed to the top of b north to try some bays. good shows on the sounder and a tail swirl and a boof that sounded like an elephant fell out of the sky. but we didnt like the idea of having to head back through all the sticks after dark as we had never been that far up before so we met team tight at bird bay for our last session of the trip. they had a hit and a bump in north b too but also didnt wanna venture back in the dark. 2 catfish for us and a turtle for the others at bird bay. we headed back to camp about 7pm.

so a pretty good weekend as a group. 4 pb's. donut streaks were broken. its safe to say it would have been a long trip home for team tight. no barra on the board. a few catfish and an eel and a turtle is all they managed. but next trip it could all be different. thats the beauty of it all i guess! a good reward for team 3d and us as we spent many an hour and dollars building new decks, stools and team 3d had a new 3d sounder which helped them out alot. i have a few photos ill put up and will put up the others when i get them from mat. oh and i guess the first question will be what we got them on? the mighty X-RAP!!! didnt hear of many other fish being caught so we were more than happy with our effort. booked back in for october so hopefully they will be firing then!

    cheers, aaran.

Well done guys. A great result in tough times. I'm not surprised you were a little dusty on Sunday morning. You were firing on all cylinders around the fire on saturday night.

    Re: another successful mondy trip

Great report and very good pictures aaran, well done mate, your team certainly bought home the bacon.

Couldn't you blokes get a Mondy Cup Sticker for pictures on the brag mat?? not sure if Foxie still has some.

I can't include the fish you guys have caught because there's no sticker, we have talked about this before (or written about it) but then again you would have to catch and photograph about 20 metery fish just to get near the top of the list.

Anyway mate, you guys had a good trip and it sounds like you all enjoyed yourselves, thats what its all about.

    Well done guys.

    Cheers,
    John.

    Re: another successful mondy trip

thanks john, yea mate we spoke about the stickers. not gonna worry about it this year as we prob only have 1 or 2 trips left this year and getting to the top of that leader board will be impossible but will definately be in next year.

    cheers, aaran.
