What boost did they set it at?

I got about 40% extra power and torque on mine too but it started life as a non turbo GQ ST TD42 5 speed with 85 kw.

Hi Chimo, yes it was a factory STS turbo with intercooler. According to Motsons the turbo was "respecified".... what ever that means, but I think it is the same turbo with work done to it.... No idea on boost either, sorry. All I know is that it goes a hell of a lot better than it did when i got it

Mark, in its standard form with factory turbo and intercooler my Patrol put out 114kW. I think the 43% power increase equates to 163kW.... not 160hp.

    I reckon those figures (165KW & 480Nm) sound pretty close. Didn't a stock 4.2TD have 115KW to begin with?

They claim a 40% increase in power is achievable, so that makes 165KW work out about right, I believe.

Didn't the later TD Cruiser donks put out 150KW standard as well? I remember it was a lot more than a standard 4.2TD from Nissan.

    Cheers,
    Roo.

    Hi Rooboy98 and Co

A stock GQ TD42 non turbo diesel put out 85Kw in its standard form and with non standard (Schwitzer) turbo and new resonator and pipes the power and torque was increased by about 40% to 127 ish Kw. Major improvement to say the least. Running in 5th gear with the cruise control on but no boat the thing eats hills and even long rising ground wheras without the turbo you were often down to 3rd gear on long up slopes, twas pathetic!

    Cheers

Sorry Alchemy, your right. My appologies...
Its the old dyno figures vs flywheel figures I guess.

I know the 4.2td Gu patrols come out with

    114kw/152hp (flywheel) standard.

    75kw/100hp (Dyno) standard.

108kw/145hp after lpg injection 45% increase. So at the fly wheel it would be 165kw

Pretty sure Finding Time's 4.2 dyno'd at 160 rwkw after a motson's stage two upgrade - he'll be back soon to confirm. That's a pretty basic upgrade. The comp boys pull pretty big numbers out of them. Big $$$ upgrades though.

Standard dyno run 90rwkw/120bhp, after stage 2 motson turbo 130rwkw/174bhp.

There you go, we are both a little out. From motson themselves.
