I thought I would share with the good folk on Ausfish my new project A 5.0m Cairns custom craft.
I just recently bought this boat and wanted a boat for river and offshore and this cat I think fits the bill, the only issue it was very rough so I thought I'll strip it down and rebuild it so I hope to post my progress on a regular basis for all to see.
Here is the boat before the strip down.

This should be another good one. Lots of hard yakka already by the look of it. How is the boat structurally, does it need much major work or mainly cosmetic. The motors ok or do you have plans for an upgrade..Sorry about all the questions but you would probably get them from someone else anyway.

What a great starting point for a project. Good looking hull on that one, what size donks are on it?
Democracy: Simply a system that allows the 51% to steal from the other 49%.
Structurally the boat is fine with one issue the weight of the motors it has 07 50hp Honda's with less than 100hrs but it is max hp for this boat and at rest the scuppers lets water in on the deck and the power heads are to close to the waterline.
So after many emails to Marcel from Cairns Custom Craft (great bloke) he came up with flotation chambers that will be added to the outside hull, he states this will also help in handling underway as well as at rest.
Marcel knows more about alloy boats both mono and cats than most other builders combined, you will be happy with what he does.

Ready for inside paint job
Mate I did the same three years ago. Great boats. The scuppers I also had an issue with but the floatation I didn't see a problem. They sit low but underway they are spot on. You must have the hull propped right for a steady plane underway. Tricky to get used too but well worth the effort. Send me a pm or call if you have any questions. 0410431474.

Since I have had it mine has been off 1770, Sandy Cape, Lake Monduran Point Lookout and boated my first big black off the seaway this year. Nothing can come close to them offshore for their length.
