    Fiji - Waaaaaaahooooo!

Just back from my girls week to Fiji. Stayed at the Warwick Resort on the Coral Coast. Snuck out for a day charter, was supposed to share the boat with another couple but they pulled out, so decided to bit the bullet and hire the boat for myself (plus my girlfriend).

Turned out to be the best decision ever! Worked out $460 Australian for the boat for the 3/4day. That got us Johnnie the Captain, Mike the Deckie, lunch, drinks, couple of beers, and a bloody fantastic trip!

Mono on the overhead TLD's & braid on the eggbeaters. All T-Curve rods used.
Pretty bad when you have to say you are knocked up and can we go do something less strenuous ...after about 30 hookups on wahoo, we went and found some little mahi mahi to give us a spell...lol.......gotta love Fiji Fishing!

    PS: TAKE YOUR OWN GIMBAL!!!!!!

We ended up bringing home to the village x10 70lb wahoo - which feeds a lot of people. Paid the taxi driver in fish also. Took a fillet back to our resort for tea.

I have some video which I will try and work out how to stick on here without going through youtube, I hope photobucket will have a link...in the meantime if anyone is going over to that part of Fiji, give me a PM and I will fill you in on the charter details.

Trip of a lifetime for me I must say...and yes....I STILL have the bruises...lol

That'd be a workout! Great day.

I am guessing you were trolling lures, but can't see the lure in any of the pics. What were you running?

Thanks for sharing and why wouldn't you!!! You slayed them.......! I went over last year with the GF. Fished a day out of Lautoka and spent 3 days on the south side on Kundavu....I was using a Shimano GT Special, running the new Stella 18000SW with 80lb braid to 80lb twisted leader and still couldn't stop some of them.

    Cheers

Thanks bear001 for a great report. I am taking my family to the Warwick Resort in March 2011. I am keen to go out on at least one charter, so your post is very helpful. I am also keen to do some land based fishing around the coast line. Do you think that it is worth taking a rod over with some lures to throw around? Colinj
