Re: Sommerset bass, yellas and redclaw

    Bugman,

Thanks, yeah I know what you mean. Not bad size for the redclaw, yeah would be good chewing.

Did you leave your pots out all night (soaked for good 12 hours or so?)

Rockmelon is the go, cant go wrong and you wont get any eels or other pesky vermin.

    Cheers, Peter

    Peter,

We checked them morning and last thing in the evening. We would get maybe a handful from one section during the day - most pots were empty after sitting all day. Most pots were full during the morning check after soaking all night.

    Hello Bugman,

Yeah thought that would be the case, I too have done well on night soaks as opposed to daylight, although heavy clowd days that looks like rain also does well.

Thanks for the report Brett !

What a great family weekend away camping and fishing !!

Somerset is the go these days, Bjelke-Petersen and Cressbrook have been struggling a bit on the fishing front, although still great camping grounds.

Your report has me keen to get back out to Somerset, especially the highlights of big redclaw and Leanne's monster Bass !! and red wine around the fire !!!

    Regards
    Craigie.

Great trip there Brett and you certainly smashed the claw. We got share farmed when we were there with Chris, Roo, Kim, Stevo and a heap of others back in July. Would have been nice to get a few more red claw than we did.

It's a nice place though as I am sure you would agree mate.

    Cheers

Geez mate wish I had of found this thread last week. I'm Sittin in Casino listening to the rain on the tin roof, I was suppose to be taking the kids camping to texas but as you know its been bucketing down for the last few days, and its no different out there. all the rivers are way up. Looks like this spot would have been a pretty reasonable backup plan....alas maybe next time
