Boat Rally at Coffs Sun 12th Sep

ECOfishers Coffs Rally on Sunday 12th September at the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Club - 9am. A red letter day for NSW recreational fishers. We are encouraging all to wear something "pink," a pink rally! Pink simbolizes those useless so called "sanctuary zones," which the greenies think are nesting boxes for fish!

from what I hear this should see a lot of boats from far reaching areas get involved

the sad thing is I can not make it as I will be at the Agnes Water M&G but wil try to get someone to tow my boat down

    cheers Murf

    Better plan for marine park
    4th September 2010

Shane Geary, Michael Featherstone and Geoff Parker will head a public rally, next Sunday, on the future of the Solitary Islands Marine Park.

    Trevor Veale
PROFESSIONAL and recreational anglers, along with spearfishers, will rally the State Government to take note of their combined plan for the Solitary Islands Marine Park.

The user groups have formed a marine park proposal, which they say offers greater balance in conservation and marine activity off our coast.

The proposal is posted on the website www.savesol.com where supporters can sign an online submission to the Marine Park Authority’s review process.

A protest rally at the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club next Sunday, September 12 (from 9am), will also campaign for changes to the government’s draft policy.

A procession of cars and boat trailers will drive through Coffs Harbour before returning to the club for a demonstration at 11am.

“We are not in opposition to a marine park, that’s not the case at all, we just want to put forward what is a better plan, a better compromise between all the activities in the park,” local spearfisherman Michael Featherstone said.

Shane Geary of the Coffs Harbour Fishermen’s Co-op says the government’s marine park review process is a numbers game.

Geoff Parker, of EcoFishers, said the online submission contains not just local knowledge but scientific reasoning.

Submissions to the draft Solitary Island Marine Park review close on Friday, September 17.
