MEDIA RELEASE:
SCIENCE V’s IDEOLOGY !
ECOfishers NSW and the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club, proudly introduce world renown conservationist, Emeritus Professor Robert Kearney PhD, DSc, AM, Professor of Fisheries, University of Canberra, to the mid north coast community.
Professor Kearney is to world fisheries, what David Attenborough is to TV audiences.
Professor Kearney will be giving a one-off address, to the mid north coast community, at the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Club, on the evening of Monday 6th September, at 7pm. All are welcome!
Professor Kearney will expose the shonky science and rubbery data behind NSW marine parks. Sound science versus political ideology!
Is the expansion of the strictly “no-take zones,” in the government’s Solitary Island marine park, from 12% to 20%, justified or necessary?
The opportunity of a lifetime, to hear a world renowned scientist and conservationist, expose the green myths and political ideology.
All your questions answered, by Professor Kearney. A meeting not to be missed, especially by locals!

the heading in the paper reads
green myths to be exposed
Marine Park info night to be held
1st September 2010
A LEADING marine scientist will stage an information session in Coffs Harbour next week discussing the State Government’s proposed review of the Solitary Island Marine Park.
Emeritus Professor Robert Kearney, of the University of Canberra, will speak to recreational anglers at the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishermen’s Club on Monday night.
World renowned for his underwater studies on fisheries management, Professor Kearney has been invited to Coffs Harbour by Ecofishers – the group which acts as the voice of recreational anglers.
The title of his address is ‘Science Versus Ideology’ and will seek to question the scientific reasoning of increasing sanctuary zones around the islands.
Professor Kearney will seek to answer whether the expansion of strictly ‘no-take zones’ in the
government’s Solitary Island Marine Park, from 12 per cent to 20 per cent, is justified or necessary.
Ecofishers says Professor Kearney will expose the green myths and political ideology while taking questions from the floor.
He will speak at the fishermen’s club on Monday from 7pm.

This could not have come at a better time. Now with the Gillard and Brown signing their agreement today, this will start people talking hopefully and make the public a little bit more aware of the shonky way the environmental mobs do their handy work.
Lets hope it's like a snowball that gets larger rolling downhill. People hear about Kearney and tell a friend and it grows from there.
