I had one once.
I took it to Qld Transport Cleveland, They gave me ($.00) a plate like a small compliance plate. I had to pop rivet it on the draw bar of the trailer. Then get a metal scribe and scratch the info onto the plate.
Brand: Homemade
Tare:
etc etc
They told me what info i had to scratch on the plate.
They check the measurements are Ok, length from draw bar to axel centres, things like that.

You will just need to give them proof of purchase and they might want to inspect it but it's easy as mate. I just made my own 6m long trailer.
One would assume it is unde 750kg gvm and does not require brakes. Download the trailer self measurement pdf from the internet, fill it out and take it with your proof of ownership to your rego branch. I am not 100 percent sure but the last time I registered a small boat trailer at Caboolture they did not need to see it. The bigger one in my avatar they did. Probably best to ring the rego branch.
Hope this helps.

As well as getting a coppy of the self assement of light trailers form.
download the VSB01 National code of practice. building small trailers.
This can be had from a number of places..here is one http://www.alltrailerspares.com.au/A...GN%20RULES.pdf
the bulliten will give you all the deatils on what is required for compliance.
Most of the trailer spares places will sell you blank vin plates for a couple of bucks.
I'm pretty sure thay will want to poke it with a stick.
If you are on the southside..cleveland is definitely the place to go....much less wait......pick your time and take a new book or magazine that you want to read... it never fails me.
cheers
Its the details, those little details, that make the difference.
