    Pimpama River issue.

can anyone update or confirm this ?

Re: July Pimpama River Fish Kill FYI

Lately, fish kills/blue green algae infestations have been occuring
every couple of months at the Kerkin Road weir, Pimpama. (There was a
    large one in January)

The EPA say it's Acid Sulphate.

Acid sulphate is released when earthworks are carried out on a large scale.

This is especially the case in alluvial flats.

Apart from the local cane farms, by far the largest disturbance of local
topsoil is the Energex works being carried out immediately adjacent to
the river, and on an enormous scale the new wastewater treatment plant
being constructed a few hundred metres up the hill.

And the pathetic little twit at Tweed tried to say that the fish were protected because of the Green Zones in the estuaries - didn't even know what runoff pollution was, imo.
