    snapper on the sand

Went for a fish off the beach near a popular Sunny Coast headland tuesday night.

Thought I might target an elusive Jew using stips of tailor fillets from a recent fraser trip.

Pretty slow for the most part, only a couple of big wobbeygons to keep me slightly amused.

When I started to pack up my kit, the bait runner on my rod in the holder started clicking over pretty quickly! I leaped into action to flick the bait runner into gear. Fishing 30lb so after a short fight with plenty of head shakes in comes a little 46cm snapper onto the sand. Not a very big fish but certainly a memorable capture!

    Topfish.

Any land based snapper capture is a good one.

good shit real fisherman don't need boats to catch reefiies LOL
I've actually watched a bloke catch a squire over 50cm off the beach at fraser in 2m of water.
    great fish mate!

Nice looking fish to. Lucky it was a keeper as there is a lot of littlins around now amonst the bay and around. Must have been a confusing fight until she came up after all it was supposed to be a jew. Well done

If you were fishing where i think you may have been, i've bagged out on snapper off the sand there before too. Was fishing for jew and was very surprised when i got the first one. Had to stop fishing after about 45min when i'd got 5. was a very welcome bycatch! I've been there a couple of times and other blokes have got them too so it's not all that uncommon on that stretch of beach.

Well done though! i'll bet you are still pleased as punch! and rightly so.

Thats the tailor I was using for bait in the yellow bucket. I kept a few just legals for spanish troll baits but the weather was so nice i had to go for a beach fish last minute and use them.
