Fenwick rods: anyone used good or bad??

    Hi guys
    Found this rod (GS 70HF2) http://www.fenwickfishing.com/prod.p...20(1178979)#GS 70H-F-2 (1178986) (2nd rod on list).

I found this rod on ebay then became very interested when i saw the price ($110 US). Has anyone owned used the fenwick brand of rod? if so are they good, bad etc. should i buy it? from what i can see it will suit my application perfectly (inshore spinning and light dam barra fishing). will be matched with a 4000 shimano sahara and 14 or 20lb braid. Tell me what you reckon its a 6 to 20lb 7ft spin stick casts weights 1/4 oz (5gram) to 1 1/4 oz (24gram). seems like it should do the abovementioned applications.

    Any info appreciated cheers tyson

When I was a 'wee lad' dad had Fenwick game rods, as did other keen fishos in the club - and they had some age on them even then, so the brand has been a round for a long time. They were a very good quality rod then, but we are talking 40+ yr old rods etc. Sorry, can't help with recent experience, but I am sure if you surfed the US fishing forums you would find some useful info.
    cheers

I have had several Fenwick rods over the years, they were always good quality. Having said that it was quite some years ago so am unsure of their quality today.

Always wanted one when I was younger. Have not seen them in the shops for a while. Used to make excellent baitcasters and trolling rods.

each rod is different but i see they are very popular in Japan with the bass anglers. Cant be too bad on average if the tackle leaders are all over em like gravy on a roast.
    Cheers,
