    LR Braid

Has anyone tried this brand. I'm told it's made from Japanese dyeema; not that I know what that is. Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: LR Braid

I have LR braid in the heavier weights on a couple of reels and for its price off ebay its not bad. Dyneema is subject to fraying more easily than braid so check all your rod guides. It is zero stretch and the colour stays in very well. It is also easier to tie some knots in dyneema compared to braid but watch for slippage on albrights.

Make sure you have a long mono leader >10m if you want to use it for bottom fishing on reefs.
I now prefer the Pelagic brand if you want a cheap braid and if you can buy the multi colour the 10m change is very useful if fishing deep.

    Cheers

Not really, apart from Tortue Nacrylan Soleil which is an acrylic/nylon braid all other commonly used braids (excepting Dacron) are made of either Dyneema or Spectra, which in turn are the same thing (gel spun polyethelyne fibres) derived from a different process.
