Hi All This is my first post on this site so I thought I drop a line and say G’day….. I’ve just upgraded my Quinny Dart 3.9 tinnie to a Stacer 5.69 Coral Runner . Unfortunately as I am currently deployed in Afghanistan I only had the one chance to use my new toy during my mid-deployment break in June . A great day one Morton Bay with the wife and kids. Caught some (and released) some undersized squire a Harry Atkins Reef which entertained the kids. Some dolphins came upto the boat which made the kids and the "Minister of War & Finance" pretty happy with the new purchace. For now she is tucked away safely in the shed..... Hanging to get home in October to spend some serious time on the water in SE QLD. There is a serious lack of it over here!!!! During my post deployment leave, my Uncle has asked of me to join him in the Hawkesbury River Classic in November. As he was the one that sparked and developed my fishing interests at a very early age and because he doesn’t have many fishing years left in him, I’ve agreed to take my new toy down from Brissy for the three day event. My problem is I’ve never fished the Hawkesbury and would appreciate any tips/advice/GPS marks thrown my way to get me in the right areas and help make the trip worth while. My Uncle is a keen want-to-be Jewy fisherman who doesn’t own a boat, so I’m guessing that’s the target species during the turn of the tide. Flatties during the run-out with soft plastics and whatever else we can manage any other time. All “SECRET” tips/marks will be kept confidential J
Thanks-in-advance and I look forward to seeing you all on the water from mid October J
Lance
Ps. I haven't worked out how to attach a photo yet! Will post a photo of the new boat when I work it out.
G'day Lance. I fished a couple Classics a few years back. Good comp which raises some nice charity money.
The 'gun' jewie boys would agree the number one bait - fresh whole squid. You can get these around West Head, Palm Beach flats or along the side of Barrenjoey. Or if you are really keen, get outside to the wreck of the Valiant prior to the comp. Plenty there. Also try whole mullet or butterflied yackas. The bigger the better. You can also get yackas at West Head.
Fishing spots - the usual - West Head, Juno, Bridge Pylons. Headlands inside Cowan. Or upstream around Bar Point. Try to find big eddies and fish them. Keep some of those live yackas for when you chase lizards.
Even if you don't get anything its worthwhile getting to the weigh-in for chances to win prizes. Its a good couple days.
