Went for a fish on Saturday with the weather being predicted to be good. At the ramp and on the water by 6am. First port of call was to try some trolling around Inskip. Xrap over the side and on the first pass back toward the barges from the bar, picked up a small school mack, lucky to be 45cm. Just before getting to the barges the rod bent a bit more and a few clicks of drag went. Nothing to exciting happening on the other end, just thought another schoolie caught in some of the weed that was around. Got it close to the boat to see a nice size tuna, played him for a few mintues while we tried to tail him. Eventually gaffed him and got it in the boat. Went 10.8kg of bluefin. Had to rip back to the ramp with him to put him in the bigger esky in the car.
After that we tried around Big Mick, T2 beacon, the bluff, the sand loading ramp, Teebar ledge, Bird Rock and again had another troll around inskip. Caught squat for the rest of the day ( don't really count 3 toads and 2 grinners)
There were quite a few schools of pillies around. Managed to get about 2 dozen in the cast net at the end of the day. Although not a huge catch of fish for the day I was stoked with the bluefin.
The bar was flat and so was fisherman's gutter. Had a mate cross it and came back in later on saturday and said it was good both times. Actually I think the bar was better than the water thirteen miles he was out. Hopefully it will stay good for the rest of the week, we are looking to go out sunday.
