Good numbers of tailor on Teewah Beach and they went berserk south of Teewah this afternoon.
Strange thing though - was lots of terns and gannets diving very close in - as in I was ducking and weaving between them and failing in my attempts not to hit them with the slug. There were fish (tailor, mackerel, tuna, dart and bonito) boiling up all over the place and I was hooking up near every cast to tailor up to 3kg. There was a steady stream of traffic going past with rods on the front - and not one car stopped! How much of an invitation to catch fish is required and who can drive past that sort of action - well I don't know anyone who can. It stayed that way from the turn of the tide around 3pm til dusk and the traffic just kept driving past.
But on Monday I was spinning up small choppers in front of Teewah and by the 3rd fish, there were 5 cars pulled up and clowns throwing pilchards over the top of me and standing so close that I bailed and spun up better choppers at rocks further down the beach.
There'll be tailor in locations at Rainbow mate, but make sure you have some metals with you - and look for rocks .
