    Sunday 8th Aug-Bribie

Took my son and his mate Alex fishing yesterday as it was Alex's 14th birthday and he was keen for a fish. The first part of the trip out was good but it got gradually bumpier the further we went. Ended up anchoring in about 65metres of water to find the current failrly stiff and running to the north making it necessary to use a lot of weight which I really don't enjoy. Got a few fish in the morning but it was fairly quiet. Alex wasn't enjoying the persistent southerly so he went and lay down in the cabin for a few hours. After lunch the wind died down and Alex emerged from the cabin feeling a lot better. The current was still there and perhaps even stronger so we tried drifting which made made it a lot easier as I could reduce sinker size. The fish were reasonably cooperative in the afternoon and we put together a nice feed. The highlight was a double hook up on a nice pearly and snapper both around the 4kg mark. (not weighed) The trip home was excellent as the conditions were great by then. Ended up being a good day with plenty of laughs.

Sounds like a good day Martin. Better weather than Rainbow anyway. Looks like the sharks are still at it in the last photo.

    Cheers
