    Gold Coast Snapper Session

Call was made late last week to go for a pre trip run in Lampuki aka Stephen's boat to test out the latest modifications he had made and make sure everything was going to work well for some more serious fishing we are planning in the next couple of weeks. Gold coast weather looked good and a sunday arvo snappering session was decided upon.

Hit the water at around 1.30pm as we had to find a boat ramp which had car parking spaces available! Boats out everywhere!!

Beautiful day, absolutely perfect conditions, headed to the 40's east of the seaway saw some whales on the way as well.

First drop at about 2.30pm and I hadn't even got to the bottom and was on! Nice 3-4kg table size snap. Stephen was amazed... Had a couple of double hook ups and unlucky not to have some quadruple hookups only for the fact it is hard to hook a fish when your already fighting one on your other rod haha!

We bagged out before the sun hit the horizon and had thrown back 5 legal fish in the process as well. All fish were in the 2-4kg range, the best eating size for snapper I believe. Ended up being a 5 all scoreline even though I was up 4-2 at one stage and had Stephen worried he was going to get a whalloping

Headed home in flat calm and were back at the ramp by 6.30pm and a huge high tide which was nearly into the car park.

Thanks to Stephen for the trip, was a great way to spend a sunday arvo.

Pics below. All fish were taken on the PEtackle bucktooth jigs in 1.5ounce with a pillie or strip of mullet added, so thanks again to Sean!

I have read a couple of other threads on Ausfish, where people have knocked the PE Fly gear....and I must admit, having float baited whole squid and pillies for snaps for a while now.....I had my own reservations on how more effective they would be than my current technique of snapper fishing.

Its rare I get towled up when fishing, but at 4 to 2 (and Anthony's fish were the better fish)....I was doing the old, "So what weight jig head are you using "

Quick change of rod and reels, and the bucktooth jig head, and I was able to keep up.

Thanks to Sean for the gear, can't recommend it highly enough. Sean, if you are reading this, I will be placing an order soon....As Anthony said, I was blown away by the difference....

Whales, dolphins, flat seas and a couple of snaps. It was a good arvo!

Thew color of those jigs against the snapper just looks great. Must get some of them in the box.

The combination of the glow jighead and the glow on the tail give this jig the advantage over the traditional floating method.

Sean Sean Sean................. I think it's barry's jigs that are the difference
