    Inskip

    Guys,

Going for a camp over at Inskip in 2 weekend's time. Towing the boat up and was looking for some pointers. Can you just launch from the beach up at Inskip near where the Fraser Barge leaves from?

    Thanks

There's a boatramp not far from Inskip Point at Bullock Point.

Yep you can easily put a boat in near where the barges leave from if you have a 4WD.

    Hi Smithy,

Just been doing some reading and sounds like that Wide Bar is a hairy one and I am not comfortable with it at all. Would I be better off launching from the beach on rainbow beach somewhere in a nice gutter? that way I won't have to cross that bar and risk anything.

    Re: Inskip

If you have low swell, a run-in tide and westerly winds, fisherman's gutter is a snack in any boat. I have taken my 12' barra boat out of it and came home through the main bar. That said, I have turned around twice on the main bar the last two years when it has been too dodgey and that is in the Stabicraft.

isn't fisherman's gutter at South Passage bar? I am talking about Wide Bay

    Re: Inskip

Fishermans gutter is the most southern channel through the WIDE BAY BAR. It runs along the beach (Inskip side). The SPB has the Northern (or Moreton) channel, the Middle channel and the Amity channel.

    Cheers,
    Wags

theres a ripper lagoon formed up at the DI headland again with calm deep water launchin. The entrance can be a little shallow at low tide though. Its protected from all winds except northerly directions.Very simple 2 launch at present.
    good luck
